We have landed!

After a monsoon rainstorm on the way to Atlanta then delayed flight from Atlanta to Houston and then lost bags  from Houston to Auckland. Never the less, all is well once we hit the ground in Christchurch and got picked up by our new dairy farm friends, Mike and Georgia Dewhirst. They are strong committed Christians and took great care of us for our first two days on the ground. We also met Amy (and her husband Matt) Hicks, from Kaikouri, who has been coordinating our arrival here.

We have now settled in the Wanaka area and have made quick friends with a Kiwi evangelist and his wife, John and Louise Masters. We look forward to ministering together in prep for Christchurch. We joined John and his friend, Graham, Saturday night to do some street ministry that he has been doing for years both in Wanaka and Queenstown. It was a terrific experience. They set up a barbeque grill at 10p and give out free sausages and potato cakes until midnight. So many asked why they were doing it and they would respond “God’s love for you”, which would begin the conversation. They also will introduce us to a business owner who goes back and forth from Christchurch to Wanaka. We understand he is a serial entrepreneur in love with Jesus. Our type of guy!

Finally, on our first day in Wanaka we stopped by the tennis center (to just check it out) and Charley was invited to play doubles in their sectional tournament with one of the club members. The tournament starts on the 10th of January. We’ll see what fruit may come from this!?
